"Linen is
a superb restaurant that ticks all the boxes and leaves
you impressed enough to return as soon as you can, introducing
different friends to its elegant dining arena each time.
Set inside the plush Manchester 235 casino, the restaurant
is set both above and away from from the gambling area by
a wide sweeping staircase, either side of the impressive
cocktail bar. The decor is breathtaking - large expensive
furniture is complemented by the brick walls of the Great
Northern Warehouse, classy lighting and French style sideboards.
The tables are that large they offer a feeling of self-importance,
although you may have to shuffle closer to your partner
if you're on a romantic night out. The service is amongst
the best we have experienced in Manchester, and whilst our
waitress for the night, Miriam, may have forgotten to bring
out one of our side orders, she would still be top of our
list of 'waitresses to employ' if we were to ever open our
own restaurant.
Prices, it has
to be said, aren't cheap (unless you take advantage of one
of their many offers or use your Hi-Life card), however
for the quality of the food you can't argue. The Venison
was pefectly cooked and equally tender on taste, whilst
the Lamb Shank was just as good, if not as meaty as the
cuts I'm used to eating in Germany and Switzerland. The
presentation of the dishes was as impressive as the decor
and the wine selection would certainly keep a real wine
buff happy.
Linen is without
doubt one of the best restaurants in Manchester and one
we'd recommend wholeheartedly, although if you're looking
for an intimate meal, ask to be sat in the smaller tables
nearer the kitchens (the larger covers on the right can
get quite rowdy with diners having to speak louder to be
heard across the huge tables). All in all, this is an excellent
restaurant that is certainly worth visiting!"
