Tropeiro
Manchester |
 |
| Tropeiro,
the new restaurant, with its meaty menu, has opened in the space
formerly occupied by Gastro’s, just around the corner from
the Palace Theatre. Although Manchester has no shortage of restaurants,
this one is different - a nice change of pace with great food and
an interesting concept in presentation. |
| Tropeiro
is a traditional churrascaria, a Brazilian restaurant specializing
in barbecue, which simply means meat, meat, and more meat - all
the meat one can eat, as a matter of fact! |
| Diners
can feast on 13 different types of meat, which are brought to the
table by gaucho-style waiters who present the meats on skewers.
One can enjoy seasoned filet mignon, Picanha (Rump), linguiça
(pork sausage), alcatra (seasoned top sirloin), cordeiro (fresh
young leg of lamb), juicy and sliced right off the bone at one’s
table, or frango, a variety of cuts including chicken legs and breasts
wrapped in bacon, to name a few, all slow-roasted on an open flame
and seasoned to perfection. |
|
 |
What
makes Tropeiro even more of a culinary treat is the floor show one
gets while dining. The gaucho waiters continually flow through the
restaurant carrying choice cuts of grilled meats. |
| Non-meat
lovers need not worry. Part of the fixed-price dining experience is
a huge salad bar which, on various nights, will offer a variety including
cold salads and olives, chilled prawns, melon slices wrapped in prosciutto,
fresh mozzarella and tomato, as well as hot vegetables and side dishes. |
| The
salad bar is so sumptuous, we caution you to make sure you leave room
for the delicious meats and desserts, which will be served to your
table side, at your leisure. The meat entrees are also accompanied
by dishes of beans, cheese bread, fried polenta and fried bananas. |
| For
dessert, one can try sinfully delicious items from Brazilian pineapple
cheesecake to papaya cream and cassis. The dining experience can be
rounded out with a glass of fine wine or an after-dinner drink. |
|
Complementing
the restaurant, Tropeiro also boasts a fully stocked cocktail bar,
with the most classic Brazilian cocktail being the Caipirinha, a
simple yet delightly refreshing combination of fresh limes, sugar
ice, and a healthy measure of Cachaca (a type of rum made exclusivly
in Brazil). |
 |
| The
main ingredient in a Caipirinha is Brazil's national spirit, Cachaca.
The history of Cachaca dates back over 400 years where it was used
by plantation owners to give their slaves more drive when working
the fields. |
| With
the classic cocktail in mind Tropeiro's bar team has created a list
of drinks with Cachaca as the main ingredient. However if this one
isn't for you, the team are fully trained on all of your favourite
classics. Cachaca has come a long way since that point but is still
a strong part of Brazilian culture. |
| Tropeiro
take special care in ensuring everything is as authentic and of the
highest quality possible, whilst still sticking to their roots set
in the South of Brazil. |
| And
being located less than a 5 minute walk around the corner from The
Palace Theatre, on the corner of Sackville Street and the aptly named
Brazil Street, Tropeiro is perfectly located for a pre-theatre feast
or a belly-busting meal to start your night out. |
| If
you’re a meat lover, Tropeiro is the place for you! |
