Piccolino
Italian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments
|
"3 of us visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was
busy so we were shown to the bar for a drink. After about
15 minutes we were shown to our table, when it became available.
Our orders arrived promptly and, although the food
was good, we only had pasta and pizza between us
so I assume it didn't challenge the chef too much. The mixed
Italian dessert to share was especially good and very good
value. The whole meal was quite good value
too. My only complaint would be about the levels of noise.
It's nice to have a lively atmosphere but
with it being busy at times it was deafening."

| "Friendly
attentive Italian waiter. Starter of Aubergines with
Parmezan was good, Seafood Skewers good (good
qualty fish and seafood), Prawn Pasta a bit too garlicky,
wine good. A bit overpriced maybe, but nothing extreme."

"I have been on numerous occasions and love the food
and atmosphere. I would recommend, if there are only
two of you, to ask to sit in the 'top' area as it is much
nicer and seems more personal. There is always a real
buzz whatever time you go and it is always
busy. I would recommend this place for definite and
will be returning as soon as I can. There is something
to suit everyone and my friend who is vegetarian
loves the food here. As part of the Bar & Grill group
I would choose Piccolinos every time over their other offerings,
Restaurant Bar & Grill and Zinc" -

| "I'm
shocked at some of the comments below. I visited this restaurant
twice now, once a couple of years ago and again last Friday
for my birthday. The manager and staff went out of thier way
to be friendly and helpful, even the bar-tender
suggested I sample a couple of wines before we ordered a bottle.
The food was to die for, perfectly
cooked, quality ingredients, an amazing experience!
It's a little pricey, but certainly not
extortionate, you do get what you pay for.
There is so much choice on the menu, that
I prefer to have a range of starters rather than a main meal,
just so I can try more of thier fabulous dishes! Busy,
relaxed, friendly restaurant, who know what they
are doing. The manager and his staff worked hard all night!
I just wished I lived nearer! Try it - I'm sure you wont be
disappointed."

| "We
went for a nice meal and it was very disapponting
at the quality of the food and service what we got for the
price. The only good thing about the food was the
Amaretto Desert. We will not be going back to this low
quality over priced restaurant again and telling
other people not to go."

| "For
a large family party of 20, responsible and just from the
theatre, the maitre'd was uninterested (unless you were obviously
a favoured customer). The restaurant only appeared
interested in taking our money, they over-charged,
we inexplicably had to pre-book the courses weeks beforehand
and they didn't offer any warmth or friendliness.
Having come from Wakefield for the evening, we're less
than impressed and we really wish we'd seen this
review page beforehand - we wouldn't have gone. Thanks - that's
helped."
