Ning Restaurant Manchester
Combining oriental chic with Northern Quarter charm, Ning is a gorgeous independent south east Asian restaurant on the edge of Ancoats and the Northern Quarter.
Established in 2006, Ning is currently open in the evenings, offering a chilled-out feel with very friendly service and a simple, authentic à la carte choice.

Authentic and stylish without pretension, the focus is on Malaysian and Thai specialities, fresh, MSG-free and Halal with more than half of the dishes available as vegetarian or vegan options.

Set within a simple but chic venue and served by friendly waiting staff, Ning's concept was originally inspired by the trendy noodle bars of Asian cities, with the relaxed and sociable ambience of continental European cafés.

The decor is contemporary Oriental with bold bespoke wallpaper and Malay batik prints in the bar area.

  Ning Manchester
Ning's multi-talented creator, co-owner and Executive Chef, Norman Musa, is the UK's leading Malaysian chef.
As well as penning his own Malaysian cookery book, he's a television personality with his own TV cooking series on Mayalsian TV and regular appearances on UK TV screens.
Norman has a natural gift for his native Malaysian food, being self taught and mentored in his skills by his late mother who was well known for her cooking in his home town of Butterworth in Penang, Malaysia.
He was also the former Race Chef for the Lotus Formula One racing team and leads Malaysian cookery classes and team-building events at Ning's cookery classes.
The original UK edition of Norman Musa's 'Ning Malaysian Food' cookery book sold out quickly and prompted the launch of an International Malaysian edition.
Ning is available for private hire and also offers an outside catering service.

Ning Malaysian Cookery School
Ning host Manchester's only Malaysian cookery school where, under the guidance of Head Chef Norman Musa, you can experience the passion and diversity of Malaysian cuisine, hands on.
With both vegetarian and non vegetarian Introductory, Masterclass and Private cookery schools, classes normally take place on a Saturday and begin at 10am running for approximately four hours.
They comprise of a workshop-style introduction to the culture, food and kitchen essentials of Malaysia, followed by a full practical session in the Ning kitchen with the Head Chef and visiting tutor.
The class concludes with a family-style Malay meal of the 4-5 dishes you cook yourself which are a combination of traditional Malaysian starters and main dishes.
A new series of cookery school classes will be announced shortly, each focusing on a different area of Malaysian cuisine.

Ning Manchester Reviews
"Ning is a hidden gem!
"Located at the top end of Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter, this Malaysian and Thai restaurant is beautifully decorated and offers some of the best South East Asian food in Manchester at a wonderfully affordable price.
"There's a great selection of Malaysian dishes to choose from with other Asian favourites from Thailand and Indonesia available too.
"Whilst this area of town has drastically changed for the better in the past year or so, you can't help but feel that if Ning was located elsewhere in the city centre it would deservedly be one of the busiest restaurants in town.
"It's certainly one we'll be venturing to again and again." ~ Restaurants Of Manchester (Dec 2007)
