The
Cedar Tree Lebanese Restaurant Manchester - reader comments
"You'd be forgiven
for walking past The Cedar Tree, mistaking it for a taxi rank or a
kebab shop, as the outside is uninviting to say the least. Unfortunately
the decor inside doesn't really improve and the service wasn't any
more welcoming during our visit. That said, it's a popular place -
even if many diners did escape falsely promising to return with cash
after learning they couldn't pay by credit or debit card (despite
the signage on the door). Others made a quick get away apparently
'to the nearest off license', again never to return, when they learned
alcohol was not on the menu (although you can bring your own booze
for a £1.50 corkage fee). The interior is... erm... weird, with
a waterfall wall display that appears to have been bought at the Rainforest
Cafe liquidation auction. The food, whilst not cheap, offers many
dishes from the Lebanon, many of which are chargrilled on the barbeque.
We opted for BBQ Chicken which wasn't a patch on that available at
Kebabish Original in Cheetham
Hill (which we recommend if it's food like this you're after). Seriously
burnt, it fell into the category of 'I could have made better myself
at home' which is a real disappointment as there's not many Lebanese
restaurants in the region to choose from. At least we've tried it."
